Anna Lynch

Manchester’s own Anna Lynch makes indie pop/soul for those who want to feel it all. Sitting on an album’s worth of songs, she is carving her way in the industry one masterpiece at a time. In this interview, you’ll learn about Anna’s background in music, her inspirations and exciting plans for the future!

What’s Your Background In Music?

Making music since she was eighteen, and being a professional singer for the last three years, Anna has dedicated this past year to her solo career. She dropped her debut single ‘Wake Up’ on the 22nd August, an uplifting track about putting yourself first, which has already gained over ten thousand streams. Now, she spends her time building upon her wide portfolio of music and planning her next releases.

What Is Your Biggest Achievement So Far?

After the success of ‘Wake Up’, Anna has made appearances on BBC Radio Lancashire and headlined at Band On The Wall on the 17th September with her “gorgeous band”. This is just the beginning for Anna, as she is busy working on her craft and preparing for her upcoming gigs.

Who Are Your Biggest Inspirations In Music?

Anna is influenced by the likes of Amy Winehouse, Cleo Sol, Laura Marling, Olivia Dean, Laufey, Wolf Alice, Joy Crookes and Sault, so it’s no wonder her music reflects powerful feminine energy. With these inspirations, I can’t wait to hear what Anna releases next!

When asked who she’d love to collaborate with one day, Anna responded with Jack Antonoff, “I would be so intrigued and curious as to what would come out of a session like that”. In addition, Anna mentioned how she would love to write with Olivia Dean and her writing team one day, “they have magic in their songwriting”.

Recommend Me An Album/Single/Soundtrack

“I love ‘Play It Out’ by Wolf Alice from their recent album ‘The Clearing’. This song spoke to me, it’s emotional, and I think as a woman I can feel the weight of what she is talking about.” ‘Play It Out’ is a tear-jerking track, starting with minimalist piano coated in vocal harmonies and slowly developing into a full-band, about the hardships of being childless as a woman.

Anna also recommended ‘Take The Night Off’ by Laura Marling, a folky feel-good song about being unpredictable and spontaneous – something we should all embrace every now and then.

What’s Next?

Anna has some exciting gigs ahead of her, including her support gig for Azamiah at Rat & Pigeon in Manchester on the 30th October, and for Vala at Kamera Ballroom in Manchester on the 7th November.

That’s not all, as Anna has plans to release more music within the next few months, “I am so excited about the next singles, each one represents a part of my life and I poured my soul into this music.”
