The Kirklees Most Wanted project is doing exactly what it set out to do: proving that the local talent pool is deep and incredibly varied. The Terrace provided the perfect “pressure cooker” environment for these artists to shine.
The mission of the Most Wanted project has always been about discovery. Friday night at The Terrace provided exactly that, with a lineup that swung from transfixing soul to “absolute ruckus.
From the moment the doors opened at the Wood Street venue, the energy was electric. The showcase—curated by Kirklees Most Wanted (Saving Grace Collective) —didn’t just feel like a concert; it felt like a statement of intent for the local creative community.
After watching a documentary where flat earthers proved themselves wrong, we were inspired to start a movement to gain supporters for our own ridiculous theory – the earth is round, but is in fact the moon that is flat!
Inspired largely by motown and northern soul, Mason names The Beatles and Ed Sheeran to be his biggest influences. Using the musical techniques from both eras, Mason blends the vintage sound of the 60’s with the classic 2010’s songwriter style and creates something brand new, and there’s something in it for everyone.
When asked who she’d love to collaborate with one day, Anna responded with Jack Antonoff, “I would be so intrigued and curious as to what would come out of a session like that”. In addition, Anna mentioned how she would love to write with Olivia Dean and her writing team one day, “they have magic in their songwriting”.
“I am over the moon to be putting on this gig as I feel like it has been a long time coming” CHAR mentioned, stating she is usually a perfectionist which can lead to putting shows like this off – now, she is learning to trust the process, leaning into the support she has from her band and those closest to her.
When asked if she could collaborate with anyone in the world, she chose producer John Congleton; “I first heard of him through his work with Angel Olsen. Nine times out of ten, if I’m listening to an album I like, he had a hand in the production”
The talented folk trio previously released their debut single The Oldham White Hare on the label and now with their latest offerings the trio give listeners a chance to explore more of their material..
“Expect the sassy Rouge flavours with a hint of more vulnerability, it’s going to be more reflective but still fun and powerful. I’m working with a couple different producers on this project and you can expect more guitar, more sass, and some more of my silly stories. I can’t wait for this next era!”
I feel like we made the perfect album together. It’s an album we truly made for ourselves in hopes that people like our creative energy. Should we decide to do another one, we would essentially continue the creative conversations that have already begun with this LP.
Unlike major streaming services, Bandcamp provides a much larger share of revenue directly to artists, making it a great way to show your support and ensure he can continue to make the music you love..
