Saving Grace Music is thrilled to support the release of ‘With You’& ‘Step it Out Mary’ lifted from the recently released self titled debut album from Hebble. The talented folk trio previously released their debut single The Oldham White Hare on the label and now with their latest offerings the trio give listeners a chance to explore more of their material on all of the major streaming platforms.
‘With You’ began as a commissioned birthday gift for someone’s son, but as Sam, also a father, started writing, it took on deeper meaning. He found himself reflecting on the butterfly effect: how every choice, even the mistakes, led him to the life he has now. The song is a quiet celebration of those missteps – the wrong turns that brought him home. It’s a song about gratitude; being grateful for life’s mistakes and troubles.
‘Step it Out Mary’ began as a children’s skipping song, maybe in the 1940s or earlier, in county Cork, Ireland. The game involved skippers lifting their left leg high on the final line, and if it touched the ground, they were out. A few years later Sean McCarthy wrote a tragic ballad to accompany the skipping chorus, and gave it to a friend, Danny Doyle, who released a recording of it in 1967. Aidan has known this song for many years and always dedicates it to his daughter Ilona, who begrudgingly danced beautifully to it for a number of years.
Their album is a collection of rare and beautiful folk songs from around Europe and America arranged and interwoven with care and craft, and plenty of craic. Hebble are an eclectic British Isles folk band with a unique set of instruments that play lively, traditional music in multiple languages. Probably the only trio in the world with Greek Bouzouki, Bodhran, and Cello + 3 vocals. Hebble also has a handful of original songs and tunes inspired by the myth and landscape of the British Isles. Upbeat and interactive with twists of the alternative, and plenty of three-part harmonies.
To accompany the album, they’ve created a beautifully detailed songbook—featuring lyrics, chords, notation, stories behind the songs, photos of the band, and insights into our handmade instruments. Whether you’re a singer, a player, or simply curious, the booklet invites you deeper into the music. Only available now on their Bandcamp page, with limited-edition CDs for those who love the feel of music in their hands.
‘Hebble came to Beverley Folk Festival on strong recommendations and they did not disappoint; refreshingly different, fantastic instrumentalists, lovely people. They’re going to be huge’
PHIL SIMPSON, Beverley Folk Festival

“We’re thrilled to share our very first album with you—a rich, heartfelt journey through traditional folk and some new songs. Rooted in the musical traditions of England, Scotland, Ireland, and Italy, this collection blends timeless ballads, original songs, and a few unexpected covers that make it uniquely Hebble. You’ll hear odes to the moon, apologies to our rivers, yearning for lost love, defiance against the machine of capitalism—and of course, a few cheeky tales along the way. It’s music that moves, stirs, and surprises”.
