Do you love listening to & making music? Do you want to play a major part in the future identity of Kirklees Year of Music 2023… and get paid for it?

Whether you’re an experienced Composer, a Bedroom Beatmaker, High School Choir, Garage Band or play the recorder on a Sunday evening…we want to hear from YOU!!

Your music will be used in an exciting range of new Kirklees wide advertising campaigns from public-events, to web & radio adverts to video & film productions and more all to promote Kirklees Year of Music 2023.

Brief:

We’re looking for a 30 second (minimum) piece of original music that’s a representation of what Kirklees means to you, you can take your inspiration from anywhere your community your environment, your childhood memories whatever you like just express yourself. Composers will need to be able to, or make arrangements for, your composition to be performed, however if studio facilities are needed, they will be provided at no cost to you. In addition, you’ll be paid a fee for the use of your work and its recording which will be licensed to KYOM23 and Kirklees Council for use in their promotional campaigns for KYOM23 and in the future.

Fee: £500 + VAT if applicable

Deadline: The application deadline is is 15th August 2023

Terms & Conditions:

Compositions must have an instrumental version.

Composers must own the rights to the music they wish to submit.

The composition must be completely original and last at least 30 seconds. (Note: It can’t be a cover, remix, mash-up & samples are not permitted).

All applicants must be born or based in Kirklees.

Applicants must be able to perform – or make arrangements for the performance of their compositions

Recording facilities will be provided where needed.

The project Curator is The Saving Grace Collective in collaboration with the KYOM23 team.

Standard Terms:

At least one person – the applicant or member of the applicant’s team – must be;

18+ and a UK Citizen.

Originally from Kirklees and/or currently working in and/or based in Kirklees.

All decisions regarding selection are at the discretion of the Curator, KYOM23 and its host organisation Kirklees Council.
