The Oldham White Hare, also known as the White Hare of Oldham, the Howden White Hare or the White Hare of Howden. Probably 19th century lyrics, the tune likely older. collected from multiple sources in the early 1900s. Previously sung by John Taylor, Brian Peters, Mr Lolly and the Watersons. Some versions place this tune firmly in Yorkshire, whilst others in Lancashire. The Oldham White Hare is likely a mishearing of Howden. Here, Hebble has brought it back to the mishearing, in connection with the singer’s family, who are from the town
